6 Crucial Confidence Boosts for Creative Entrepreneurs
If you had the guts to start this journey, you have the gumption to finish it...
So many creative entrepreneurs make it look easy, but if you peak behind the happy headshots, social media posts and optimistic blog posts, you'll see a different story.
Sleepless nights, sacrifice, and a series of small wins that got them where they are today.
Plenty aspire to become entrepreneurs, but never do, while others try, fail and never try again.
The select few that keep trying sometimes need a pick-me-up, and that's okay. So here's a few confidence boosters for all of the creative entreprenuers out there who might be doubting their journey:
Remember that you're not only doing what you love, you're doing what you are.
When you set out on your journey, it's probably because you had a passion for something (even if your passion is just making money, but hopefully it's something more meaningful than that). Whether you're Kari Block starting a $50M pest control company from your kitchen, or Daymond John going from a rough part of Queens to one of the most famous Billionaires around, your success will come from two things, 1) passion and 2) perseverance. Cheesy, I know, but it's true.
Write down your goals
Writing your goals makes them real. It also makes it easier to hold yourself accountable. I recommend keeping a small notebook with you with your goals and inspiration inside. When you're having a weak moment or you begin to doubt yourself, pull out the notebook, take a breather, refresh your memory about why you're working so hard, and then press on.
Be relentless in your pursuit and trust your gut
You were confident enough to start pursuing your dreams. Just taking that step has put you ahead of so many dreamers who never get past the fantasy stage. When you start to doubt yourself, whatever you do... DON'T STOP. This is what separates the winners from the... well... not winners. Just because you aren't winning now doesn't mean you won't later on. Would you rather start off the race strong and lose or start off okay, stumble a bit and then come out on top? ...Exactly.
Work your hardest when nobody is watching
Maybe you feel like nobody's listening to you. You're dying for your voice to be heard. When you feel down... get to work. Push yourself and prove to yourself that you're capable of doing this because you've put the work in. The most successful people have worked and sacrificed behind closed doors before being recognized. You are no exception.
Continue your education
The day you stop learning is the day you stop growing. Take a weekend to complete a workshop, buy a course online, or watch a YouTube video for free. Read an e-book, blog post or watch videos online. Or if you're really fancy, go back to school and take a formal class. Pick your poison. It doesn't really matter what you do, just keep learning.
GIVE, GIVE and GIVE S'MORE
I wholeheartedly believe that if you give you'll receive. There are givers and takers in life and although many at the top seem to be takers, do your best to be a giver. When you feel down, GIVE. If you can't donate your money, donate your time. Teach your passion for free to underprivileged kids or find other ways to be a leader in your community. Or on a smaller scale, take an apprentice under your wing and teach them your ways. Know that love will continue to come back around to you.
Remember you are enough
You've taken steps that so many others are too afraid to pursue. That shouldn't be taken lightly. The people who have succeeded were where you are right now and one day you'll look back and be glad you didn't give up when you hit that one roadblock.
